“HOW TO REMAIN ROOTED DURING THE STORM”

1. WE HAVE TO FIX OUR FOCUS
Our focus determines the direction we walk in. As soon as we forget who God really is, we’ll become deceived by how the enemy wants us to think of God as well as ourselves.
Determine right now where your focus will be (Philippians 3:12-14)
Whatever it is we choose to focus on will be magnified. We can magnify our problems or we can magnify the victory we have in Christ. At the end of the day, things may not be easy right now, but we will never lose by putting Christ on the throne of our hearts! We can fix our eyes on Christ by developing our relationship with Him daily, being in His Word and acknowledging His presence throughout the day. It’s in that communication with Him throughout the day that our focus is tightened on the One who knows all things and is in this with us.
2. WE NEED TO LEAN ON GOD AND WHO HE REALLY IS
God remains the same, He never changes. ( 1 Samuel 15:29)
God’s consistent character gives us hope to anchor on. Our circumstances may change, people in our lives may change, but God doesn’t. That truth is crucial because if we know that we know God doesn’t change, we shut the door for the enemy to come through to tell us He did.
How we view God determines whether or not we have victory over the trial we are facing. If we believe God is out to get us or is angry at us, instead of overcoming the situation, we will be overcome. However, when we know God loves us so dearly and is moving and working in our lives, we have a confidence that is supernatural. It is only a supernatural confidence in who God is that can have peace when nothing else is making sense.
Leaning on God and the truth of His character versus the ebbs and flows of our own personalities as well as our circumstances gives us clarity for what we’re walking through even before we have all the answers. It’s learning to surrender your own thoughts and plans for how this should turn out and giving room for God to work- not just in the situation, but in you!

3. EXPECT GOD IN THE SITUATION YOU’RE WALKING THROUGH
God is in the situation with you (Deuteronomy 31:8)
When we know that God is in this with us, it changes the way we not only view our situation but how we choose to respond to it. Our response determines our destination. The truth is we can’t always avoid difficult circumstances, but we can always avoid making difficult circumstances more difficult with our responses and choices we make in the midst of them.
Ask God for the trust you don’t have yet. Ask God to give you the vision to see this through to the end successfully. Ask God to give you a fresh perspective in the midst of the wilderness. God is always faithful and will remain faithful, even here. (Psalm 37:3) “Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.”
